What’s New with the 2024 Dodge Hornet?

2024 Dodge Hornet: What’s New

If the name Hornet sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The model was first introduced in the 1950s before its reworking into a model concept vehicle decades later. Now, after its debut in 2023, the Hornet is here to stay – and this time, it’s electrified.

New features for 2024 include the Dodge Hornet R/T, the fastest and most powerful vehicle in its segment under $30,000. With 288 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft of torque, the Hornet R/T offers up 32 miles of all-electric range and 360 miles of total range. It can achieve the 77 MPGe with its hybrid powertrain that includes a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. The hybrid performance R/T includes the class-exclusive PowerShot, a feature that delivers a 30-horsepower burst, taking it from 0-60 in just 5.6 seconds.

Another addition to the Hornet R/T is Sport Mode as well as three hybrid modes – Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. The adrenaline-inducing Sport Mode enhances performance with optimized upshifts, tighter steering, enhanced limited slip differential, and a sharper throttle. Sport Mode alone can take the R/T from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. When it’s time to boost fuel economy, the hybrid mode options each work differently to deliver power from the 90-kW electric motor combined with a 1.3L turbocharged engine. Hybrid mode provides the optimal balance of electric and conventional power; Electric mode allows you to drive with zero emissions until the battery is depleted; and E-Save prioritizes the conventional engine to conserve battery power until it can charge up again.

A hands-free liftgate is added to both the Hornet R/T Plus and Hornet GT Plus. Just kick your foot under the license plate to access up to 27 cubic feet of rear cargo space. The tech package also gets an upgrade with added Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist System.
