The entire hybrid system is driven by a 2.0L I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine with a 17kWh lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative brake booster and 8-speed automatic transmission. Wrangler 4xe delivers an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 pount-feet of instant torque for heart-pounding performance on and off the road. Each wheel receives maximum torque and power. This revolutionary torque ability provided by the electric motor improves rock crawling capabilities and powerful speed off the line. It’s also the industry’s First PHEV with Front and Rear Locking Differentials for incredible traction. 

The battery pack is sealed and waterproofed so Wrangler 4xe can ford through creeks and streams up to 31.5 inches deep. E-Selec driving modes put you in control. Electric mode uses only battery power for the lowest emissions and quiet off-roading while maintaining the maximum torque and horsepower. When the battery has more than 1% charge, Electric mode can be chosen. This mode allows for near-zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds and allows for up to 21 miles of travel. eSave Mode reserves battery power for later. It prioritizes the 2.0L engine for energy consumption when you need to save your battery charge. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. This mode can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well. Hybrid Mode gives you the best of both worlds for the longest range and efficient travel. This mode combines torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motor so it provides the best acceleration, instant torque, and maximum horsepower. Electric power is consumed first in Hybrid mode. 

The regenerative braking feature allows the battery to be charged when decelerating and braking. The Max Regeneration feature remaps the accelerator pedal to command more aggressive regen at low pedal positions. It allows you to slow the vehicle down without the brake pedal, but a complete stop still requires brake pedal engagement. It also stays selected until you turn your Wrangler off.
