Find the Right Electric Vehicle for You
Benefits of the Different Types of Electric Vehicles
People often use the term “electric vehicles” in sweeping generalizations that lump all electric vehicles into one category. In the same way that gasoline and diesel vehicles are not all identical, electric vehicles are not all the same. In fact, there are some key differences between some of the cars out there on the market that offer electric mobility, and you’ll want to understand these differences if you are in the market for a more efficient vehicle.
The electric vehicle options we will be focusing on in this blog post are purely battery-electric, hybrid, plug-in, hybrid and fuel cell. Below, you’ll be able to understand what sets these apart, and hopefully, help you determine which vehicle is right for you.

Electric Vehicle Options
The first type of electric car we will discuss is battery-electric. This is the type of vehicle many people think of when they think of electric mobility. It is powered purely via a built-in battery that can be charged up at home or at public charging stations.
Some drivers may not realize that this isn’t the only form of electric mobility, though. Hybrid models are another popular option for electric efficiency. These vehicles use both gas and a built-in battery/electric motor to power the vehicle. With the electric motor and gasoline engine working together, you get significantly improved fuel efficiency.
Plug-in hybrid models are similar to this. The key difference between a plug-in hybrid and a standard hybrid is that a plug-in model has the ability to operate on pure electric power. Unlike a fully electric vehicle, it may not be able to go long distances via pure electric power, but it can go for a while. Additionally, and because of this, the vehicle’s electric battery can be plugged in to recharge.
Lastly, fuel cell vehicles may not be popular in the United States yet, but they are an option for those seeking electric mobility. Instead of gasoline, however, these models utilize a hydrogen fuel tank and a battery.
As you can see, you have plenty of options available if you’re seeking electric efficiency. You’ll find some of those options here at Rairdon’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Bellingham, so give us a call to learn more.
