Derek Jeter Gets Home with “Drove All Night’ Spot
Derek Jeter has had quite the career. He spent 20 years as a New York Yankee shortstop, and thus a five-time World Series champion and is in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jeter and his wife serve as the perfect spokespersons for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, although neither speaks a word in the new television spot titled “Drove All Night”. The ad will appear across television, social media, and digital media channels, and it is memorable enough for Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Bellingham to tell you about it.
Just Trying to Get Home
The spot begins with Jeter’s plans for a private flight back home thwarted by stormy weather. Anxious to get home, Jeter opts to drive Jeep’s flagship Grand Wagoneer L through the storm. While the Grand Wagoneer L almost has room for the Marlins starting lineup, the spot focuses on Jeter’s solo ride home, showcasing several of the model’s unique features in the process.
The feature display starts with a shot of automatically running boards for Jeter’s foot as he enters the vehicle. You briefly see him adjust the drive mode for the stormy conditions, and Jeter will no doubt benefit from the Grand Wagoneer L’s sophisticated 4WD system to keep him on track in the storm. Along the way, he activates the vehicle’s exclusive McIntosh audio system, and we also see the night through the panoramic sunroof. An excellent demonstration of the Night Vision Camera with Pedestrian and Animal Detection occurs when Jeter stops for a wolf crossing the road after the driver information display reveals it.
Storm over, the sunrise shines golden light on the Grand Wagoneer’s refined exterior. Jeter arrives home in the morning, greeted by Hannah and their children just before Jeter takes them to school. Jeter doesn’t look the least bit fatigued after the long drive. The wordless spot is backed by a beautiful song created specifically for the spot.
“The story behind ‘Drove All Night’ was inspired by conversations with Derek and Hannah and their commitment to being present for their family in big and small ways,” said Marissa Hunter, Senior Vice President, Stellantis North America. “Both Derek and Hannah are incredibly authentic, successful across many dimensions, and truly treasure the importance of family values. Grand Wagoneer is a perfect fit for their growing family, and we feel very fortunate to have them as part of our Jeep family.”
Chicago-based Highdive agency created the spot, and it certainly showcases the Grand Wagoneer L’s impeccable luxury SUV credentials through its features and its association with Jeter, private jets, and a beautiful luxury home. The spot will run across broadcast and cable channels, including college and NFL football and Major League Baseball.
